Tony Markovich

After starting my career at a local newspaper covering high school sports, I began covering the automotive industry about 10 years ago. I’ve been a part of Recurrent’s automotive team since mid-2020.

Back in 2011, I finished up school in Missouri and shipped off to be a sports intern at Complex Media, where I was able to interview some of the top athletes in the world, including those in action sports and motorsports. When I had the opportunity to run the website’s Rides section, I took control and haven’t looked back. I’ve since been an editor at Bold Ride (RIP), Autoblog, and Car and Driver, and have also contributed to Hagerty, RideApart, Forbes Wheels, and Internet Brands Automotive. I haven’t owned a ton of cars, but I’ve loved every single one. I started with a Saturn SC2 coupe with the flip-up headlights and learned to drive stick on an Acura Integra GS. I’ve also owned a Honda Elite moped, a Suzuki SV650, and a V6 Chevrolet Camaro. My dad taught me everything I know in the garage, and I’m currently working on restoring a 1970 Opel GT with him.

I attended the University of Missouri and majored in journalism, with an emphasis on magazine journalism. I was much more interested in my sociology classes, though, so I minored in that, as well.
